General Information

What is MX-West, and why was it started?

MX-West is a western Canadian-based car club for enthusiasts of the Mazda MX-3 (or Presso / AZ-3 / Precidia / Eunos 30X). We started this auto club to share the experiences we've had with the Mazda MX-3 through fixing it, modifying it and most of all driving it.

The club originally started in Vancouver, BC with a small group of people with one major thing in common; the MX-3. Kevin Gee was the founding member of the club. After a couple years the club grew quickly as the work spread that a MX-3 club was in town. By 2002, James Gosteli from Calgary, Alberta opened the Alberta MX-West Division. With the help of Justin Ollerich, the Alberta division began to grow as quickly as the BC chapter. Ollerich later moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in hopes of opening 3rd MX-West division. After 1 year of failed support by local MX-3 enthusiasts, Ollerich disbanded the Saskatchewan chapter. Log term members Josh Forrest & Dan Sharpe are working to officially open MX-West's Washington division during the 2007 year. This will bring MX-West to a total 3 official divisions.

What does the club do?

Every year we hold annual Mazda MX-3 only meets to bring owners of the car together to swap new toys, stories and share in a day of fun, and annual car rallies. We go to local import car races (drag and road tracks), and bring owners together for auto tours - day and overnight trips to areas and places of interest and fun. We are also talking to businesses on an ongoing basis to get discounts on parts and services for club members exclusively.

Do you accept members from outside Washington?

Yes we do! We have members as far away as Portland, Oregon! As long as you're near the West Coast, and you own an MX-3, you can join this group of great people!

Do I have to have any modifications to my car?

Heck no! People install whatever they want into their MX-3's to make them more personal. Whether that means higher performance, better looks, better sound systems, or just the way it came off the showroom floor, as long as you enjoy your car.
